The CSIC press release comments about a study, in which the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) and GEoREST participates, on a new simulation model that reproduces a geothermal system and analyzes the possibility of producing geothermal energy in volcanic areas.
This study simulates a geothermal system at very high temperature (500 °C) and great depth (5 kilometers) considering changes in the properties of water and rock deformation to study the possibility of producing geothermal energy in very hot areas of the earth crust, such as volcanic areas.
